SecondPresentation Panels

Meanwhile I have finished a new version of my SecondPresentation Display Panel that can be used for teachers and presenters.

It's more than a simple presenter screen, because it comes with a comfortable HUD that can be used by more than one avatar simultaneously to contol the display. The personal version (with copy enabled but no transfer) was available for some weeks in my shop.

Now I have finished an institutional version (no copy) that can be used in schools or companies. It will respond to avatars who are in the same group and all other avatars can use it if they know the right password. So it's easy to set up a common display panel for presentations in your conference room or classroom.

Come to the shop and try out the demo on site or pick up a free demo version that you can try out at home.

VHS Goslar auf der SL-Messe

Neue Skripting-Kurse nun zweisprachig

Hallo Leute,

ich habe ja schon einige Zeit nichts mehr hier geschrieben, doch nun gibt es gute Neuigkeiten. Ich wiederhole alle meine Skriptkurse nun regelmäßig, denn es gibt immer noch eine große Nachfrage nach Skriptkursen in SL.

Ich habe meine Grundkurse 101 bis 104 für die nächste Woche als zweisprachige Kurse geplant. Deutsche Teilnehmer erhalten von mir ein geskriptetes HUD, dass sie am Avatar tragen können. Damit kann jeder den Kurs in der deutschen Übersetzung direkt von mir hören. Ich habe mich für diese Form entschieden, weil die reinen deutschsprachigen Kurse weniger gut besucht sind als die englischsprachigen. Ich denke das ist eine gute Lösung für beide, wenn ich einfach beide Sprachen gleichzeitig anbiete.

Bitte schaut in meinen Google Calendar in dem ich wie üblich die Termine veröffentliche. Nächste Woche habe ich die Kurse zu Euro-, Asien- und Australien-freundlichen Zeiten auf 4 AM SLT (13 Uhr deutscher Zeit) gelegt.

Scripting classes now Bi-Lingual

Hi there,

I haven't blogged here for a while. Now I've got some good news for you. I will repeat my scripting classes on a regular basis, because I see that there is still a big demand for scripting classes in SL.

I have scheduled my basic classes 101 to 104 for next week as bi-lingual classes. German students will get a special scripted HUD to wear so that they can hear my class in plain German. I do this because my classes that are German only are not as full as the English classes and I think this is a good solution to deliver to English- and German-speaking students at the same event.

Please check my Google Calendar for dates and times as usual. Next week I scheduled the time more Euro-, Asian- and Australian-friendly at 4 AM SLT.

I will give a basic scripting class next saturday 7 AM SLT on the BETA GRID in Pulveria with Voice.

Very important: The beta test grid's database snapshot is from April 13th, 2007. If your account is newer than that date, or your password has changed since that date, you will be unable to access the beta test grid.

We will meet in the Sim "Pulveria" that is voice enabled on the beta grid. Make sure you have a headset connected to your computer.

Google Calendar Problems

It seems that google is giving me the wrong link to my google calendar. For some reason the link does not longer work. Try this link to my google calendar instead.

Offenbar funktioniert der Link zu meinem Google Kalender nicht richtig, bzw. ich bekomme von Google den falschen Link. Bei Problemen bitte diesen Link zu meinem Google Kalender benutzen.

Teststrecke für Avatare bei der VHS Goslar

Seit Freitag den 11.05.2007 ist die neue Teststrecke für Avatare bei der Volkshochschule Goslar zur Benutzung freigegeben. Der SL-Benutzer kann hier seine Fertigkeiten mit den SL-Funktionen testen.

Hintergrund ist natürlich, potenziellen Studenten von SL VHS-Kursen eine Möglichkeit zu geben, sich selbst besser einzuschätzen. So ist es leichter, sich entweder für einen Newbie-Kurs zu entscheiden oder sich gleich bei einem Seminar für Anfänger oder Fortgeschrittene anzumelden.

Bei der ganzen Sache darf natürlich der Spaß nicht zu kurz kommen. So wird an verschiedenen Stationen beispielsweise die Fähigkeit zur Kamerakontrolle oder zur Prim-Positionierung spielerisch getestet. Die meisten Stationen sind mit Skripten versehen, so dass der Erfolg gleich angesagt wird. Bei Misserfolg gibt es dann zumindest hilfreiche Hinweise.

Sogar ein Laufsteg und ein kleines Labyrinth sind vorhanden, bei denen die Fähigkeit zum Laufen und Navigieren in engen Räumen ausprobiert werden kann. Also bitte möglichst nüchtern erscheinen

New Intermediate Scripting Classes

Meanwhile I developed two new classes:

Intermediate Scripting 202 - Scripting a simple Image Presenter

This class will create a simple presenter screen for presentations that will change images on touch.

Students will learn:

- Simple debugging techniques using llOwnerSay
- Using a for loop
- Using llGetInventoryNumber and llGetInventoryName
- Placing Textures on a prim using llSetTexture

This class is INTERMEDIATE Level.

PREREQUISITES: Students must be able to understand LSL scripting either by being able to program languages like PHP or JavaScript, or have taken my basic classes 102-104.

Intermediate Scripting 203 - Scripting and building a simple HUD interface
Instructor - Jim Gustafson

This class will tell the students how they can build a simple HUD to control other objects.

This HUD-Interface can be used to interact with the scripts done in Command Controlled Prim and A Simple Presenter Tool.

Students will learn:

- What a HUD is
- How a HUD can be created
- How a HUD can communicate with other objects
- How to avoid problems with the communication
- The use of llKey2Name()
- The use of llSetObjectName()

This class is INTERMEDIATE Level.
PREREQUISITES: Students must have a good understanding of LSL or have taken my basic classes 102-104 and intermediate class 201 or 202. Students must also be experienced in building, editing and linking with small objects and know how to use camera controls.

As it seems, there is not much free space for teaching left on Eduisland II .Therefore I will no longer offer my no-concept classes there, at least until I know where I can teach the classes.

New Class: Walking and Flying

I have developed a new class for SL Beginners: Walking and Flying. It is a class with practice part, therefore it is limited to 20 people.
